Wellness in Action

Wellness in Action (WiA) is the workforce training and development program of the
Center for Empowering Refugees and Immigrants (CERI).

We support community leaders from indigenous, refugee, and immigrant communities interested in promoting mental health and wellness. We offer mini-grant funding, technical assistance, clinical consultation, and training to support grassroots community leaders with skill building for careers in community wellness and mental health.
The WiA program promotes a holistic and culturally sustaining approach to community mental health in which we promote career pathways for grassroots community leaders while promoting diverse strategies to enhance the mental health and overall quality of life of new immigrant, refugee and indigenous communities.
Mini-grant funding, technical assistance to plan and implement projects with mini-grant funding, professional skills trainings and clinical consultation to support grassroots community leaders with building skills for careers in the public behavioral/mental health field.
WiA also works with government agencies and community-based organizations to develop career paths and pipelines in the public behavioral/mental health field that are relevant for refugee and new immigrant communities. The ultimate goal of WiA is to improve mental health access for unserved and underserved refugee and new immigrant communities in the Bay Area.
